I’m really enjoying my photojournalism class in spite of the basic nature of the material. It’s a good refresher on the photography basics if which I’m sorely in need. Today our first assignment is due: the informal portrait. As one would expect the whole class has to complete this assignment and everyone did it differently. I chose to ask my friend Rachel if she would be willing to play the piano (she’s quite good) while I photographed her, and she agreed. What follows is the result of the “shoot” we did in the music building. We had to change rooms/pianos once, the fact that I don’t have a wide angle lens is proving to be quite the challenge. All of these photos are converted to black and white but otherwise uncropped and undedited.
Overall it went quite well, we took over 60 shots in about 30 minutes, my professor particularly liked #80, it’s also the one I chose to turn in for the assignment.
